It would seem that as the last week of school before Christmas break is in sight, Montrosians would be anxious to get home and enjoy the holidays; however, our final week before break is nothing short of Christmas cheer and holiday spirit. The joyful atmosphere centers around the coming of Our Lord, and ignites a true sense of anticipation among Montrosians. The last wave of Christmas activities excite the Montrose community as well as unite them through Secret Santa gifts, carolling, watching The Grinch, ugly sweater/xmas sock day and class skits.
Secret Santa starts Monday among the faculty, staff, and students. Don’t forget — it’s a secret! All participants will have to deliver their gifts sneakily to the person they picked from the basket. Secret Santa will continue throughout the week with the exception of Wednesday when we all bring in a Toys for Tots gift donation. As Mary Theresa Whalen ‘15 reminded, “it’s really fun to receive gifts for Secret Santa, but it’s even more fun to give them.”
During the next Common homeroom, Wednesday the 17th, the whole school will enjoy carolling led by the seniors as well as watch The Grinch. Don’t forget your sweatshirts and blankets!
Students will also be preparing for skits during the week for their performance before the whole school on Friday the 19th. How the Grinch saved Santa, Montrose seniors in college during Christmas, or twists on other classic Christmas stories are a couple of examples of skits done by former grades. Everyone looks forward to what each class is planning for this year’s skit performances.
Just remember — “there’s no place like Montrose during the holidays, so enjoy the moments while they last!” said senior, Sarah Baker ‘15.
