As the 2016 school year comes to a close, Montrose seniors and juniors have at least one amazing experience to look back on: Prom.  This year’s theme was The Secret Garden and was held at Needham Country Club. The Montrose Parent Guild did an amazing job decorating the entire venue with white lights, greenery, and flowers galore.

For many juniors, this their first prom and the overall consensus on the night was very positive. Nathalie Falcao ‘17 said: “”I thought it went great. I met some new friends and I looooved getting all dressed up and pretty for pictures.” Sarah McAuliffe ‘17 said: “Prom rocked.” She added that all the kids loved the food, music and venue. Katie Sidhu ‘16 said that this year’s prom was “way better than last year.”

The music was a fantastic mix of throwbacks and popular hits, and the dancefloor was never unoccupied. As for favorite parts of the night, Rylee Booth ‘16 said,  “Dancing with the chaperones was absolutely my favorite part of the night. Dancing with Mr. and Mrs. Schickel and Mrs. Rose was so awesome.” Seniors Saoirse Healy and Jen Cochran added that the “mashed potatoes” and “Hannah Montana jams” were definitely the best parts of the night.

The evening’s joy has bubbled over into bittersweet senior memories, as the prom is the last all-class celebration before graduation.  The girls had a special moment at the end of the night dancing to their class song “Girl on Fire,” dedicated to Elizabeth Schickel.  Meagan Albertson ‘16 said: “There really is something so special about being able to get dressed up with all your friends and spending one last night together. We’re all very sad that we will be in different places next year, but this is going to be such an amazing memory to look back on.”
