While the first week of March offers no signs of spring changes, some exciting speakers will be mix-up the schedule and expand our perspectives. The beginning of March features Mrs. Liz Gilges, who will share her story of a faith-led change in her life’s direction. The end of March features a special speaker for the 8-12th grades, Jason Evert, who is well-known for his lively talks about pure love.
Mrs. Liz Gilges, speaking March 3, is a featured speaker for the faith portion of our “educating women of faith, character and vision” mission. Mrs. Gilges was a professional dancer whose life led her in a different direction than she had originally planned when she had to care for a handicapped child and battle cancer. A cancer survivor, Gilges felt called to take her whole family on a mission trip if she survived cancer. Today, Liz is very involved with the Liviter Cleary School in Haiti. Mrs. Baker said, “Liz doesn’t have a huge conversion story; her story is about subtle ways that God guided her life.”
Jason Evert will be speaking to students on March 31. Jason will be talking to grades 8-12 while Dr. Bohlin gives a talk to students in grades 6 and 7. Jason Evert is a very lively and “dynamic“ speaker who will focus on the topic “Romance without Regret.” Jason will be “spelling out the differences of teenage boys and girls” during his speech, Mrs. Baker explained. The focus of Jason’s talk will be self-respect and understanding the role of dating in relation to marriage.
