Spirit Week, a time full of laughter, joy and school spirit! Spirit Week only happens once a year at Montrose, so everyone gets pretty excited when its finally here. All that excitement leads to plenty of crazy costumes and funny hairdos corresponding to the theme of the day. This year’s themes in order were: Food Day, Character Day, Red/White Day, and Class Unity Day. Even though Stud Gov shared the themes with students only a few days before Spirit Week, all of the costume ideas were very creative!
While everyone loved Spirit Week, obviously some girls liked different parts of Spirit Week better than others. Addison Harrison ‘19 said, “Planning my class unity costume was my favorite part of Spirit Week because I loved our class’s idea of dressing up as a song.” Laasya Thatavarthy ‘20 shared, “I really like Spirit Week since it’s the one week of the year when you can express yourself because you are not wearing your uniforms.”
Throughout the week, Montrose bustled with even more activity than usual. Each time you walked down the hallway, you would see bright colors and crazy hairdos. When students presented costumes at break, students could show off their costumes to the entire school.
I really enjoyed voting for the costume winners at lunch because it was so exciting to see how creative each grade got with their original designs, not to mention that it was loads of fun to make a lot of noise and scream and cheer for my classmates.
Class unity day was my favorite day of Spirit Week because each class joined together to plan a group costumes idea. Each class came up with such amazing original ideas, and I was wowed by everyone’s creativity yet again. I can’t wait for Spirit Week next year!
