Come support the Mavericks in the first round of post-season games on Monday, November 2nd at Miracle field.

The senior appreciation game on October 23 was the last regular-season last home game of the regular season, which means the season is coming to a close. The Mavericks celebrated a 7-0 win over Chapel Hill Chauncy Hall, with five out of seven seniors scoring goals. Sylvia Conte ‘16 played the whole game as the goalie, filling in for the usual full-time keeper Lauren Francis ‘16, who could not attend.  After the game, the parents and players gathered together for a rose ceremony, which consisted of sophomores and juniors presenting each senior with roses to honor their contributions to Montrose’s soccer program. The night was complete when players gathered around a firepit and shared pizza and cake.

On October 22nd, the Montrose Mavericks celebrated an important 2-1 win over Lexington Christian Academy. Thursday was the first time the Mavericks beat Lexington Christian. Annie Irwin ‘19 scored the first goal, and Julia Gibson ‘16 scored the game-winning goal.

On October 21st, the team tied Southfield 2-2. The game was very even and well-played. With 13 minutes left to go in the game, Southfield’s goalie suffered a serious head injur, and left the field in an ambulance. The Mavericks wish her a speedy recovery.

Post-season play offers many opportunities to support the team for fans as the Varsity players move on in hopes to synch more honors for Montrose.
