On Wednesday, September 21, the Montrose Cross-Country Team drove two hours to Berwick Academy in Maine to race against Berwick, Pingree, and Dana Hall. The course the Mavericks ran on was challenging; it had sharp turns and very long up and down hills. However, the girls tackled the hills with much determination and great form. Mary Dyke ‘20 came in 6th place. Hannah Marino ‘18 followed in 7th place, 3 seconds after Mary. Francesca Dyke ‘18 placed in 9th place, and Emily Bowman ‘19 was 13th place. Jenna McCarthy ‘19 followed in 14th place, and Caroline Piorkowski ‘22 placed in 16th place. After the end of the race, Berwick Academy supplied many good snacks for all the runners, and then the Mavericks loaded back into the Montrose van.

Overall, Montrose came in 2nd place, losing only to Dana Hall. The team’s next meet is Wednesday, September 28 at Marianapolis Prep in Connecticut. Good luck, Mavericks!
