Montrose Volleyball Standing Tall: New Coach & Early Win Keep Spirits High

Montrose Volleyball cinched their second game of the season before home court fans on Wednesday, September 15th against Landmark School, following a close loss to Gann Academy on September 12th — their season opener. The team continues to demonstrate outstanding teamwork and support while welcoming a new head coach, Mrs. Joseph. Montrose’s volleyball team has launched into their 2017 season with their new coach, Mrs. Joseph.

Co-Captain Aine Ford ‘18 said: “I’m so happy about where the team has come, from a difficult first season last year where almost every single person was brand-new to the sport to holding our own this year against the division champions in last year’s league (Gann).” She added: “I think that this is a result of both an experienced coach (Mrs. Joseph), but also the fact that the team is so motivated and dedicated to success without sacrificing our sense of comradery and positive attitude.”

Courtney Aicardi ’20 said: “What was so cool about that [Gann] game was how we were so close to beating them. It made it so clear to me how much I’ve grown as a player and how much the team has grown as a whole with the help of our new coach.”

The following day, the team carried their positivity with them into their second game as Captains Aine Ford ‘18 and Isabelle Heron ‘19 led the team to victory. The Mavericks won all three sets against Landmark. Isabelle said: “I think our team has grown significantly from last year. It’s so great having a coach that knows the sport. Aine and I are both super excited to continue the season.”

Our Montrose volleyball team has grown so much since last year. With one win already tucked under their belts, the team is ready to play to the best of their ability while Montrosians and the Maverick Mascot cheer them on the sidelines.  Congratulations to the Montrose Volleyball Team, and good luck in the rest of their season!
