If you are a Swiftie, or have a Swiftie in your family, you have probably already listened to some of Taylor Swift’s new album, 1989 (Taylor’s Version). Taylor announced the release of this new album on August 9th, 2023 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California at the Eras Tour.
If you recognize the album name, that is because she has already released the album 1989, but she re-recorded all her songs in this album, to gain ownership of them. Not only did she re-record all these songs, but she also released five new songs that she had written while creating the original 1989, but for one reason or another did not release. They are called “From the Vault” songs, and her 1989 From the Vault songs are called, “Is It Over Now?”, “Now That We Don’t Talk”, “Suburban Legends”, “Say Don’t Go”, and “Sl*t!”, which has already become a fan favorite.
Many do not like listening to Taylor Swift’s re-recorded albums because they do not like the sound of her older voice, which is much deeper. Some have said 1989 sounds too autotuned and an attempt to make her voice sound higher and more like the original album. Although some Swifties are against listening to her original album, stating they want to support Taylor and listen to the album she owns, others do not care about which one she owns and would prefer to listen to the original 1989, which they believe sounds better.
The original 16-track album was released exactly nine years before its re-release, on October 27, 2014. Taylor Swift beat her own record on Spotify with the most streams in one day with her new album on the day it was released (October 27, 2023). Taylor Swift claims that this was her favorite album to re-record, so if you have not had a chance to listen to it yet, open your favorite music streaming service and hit play on 1989 (Taylor’s Version)!
