When some juniors finished performing scenes from Shakespeare’s Hamlet and others worked on equations, labs and world languages, the graduating seniors made a surprise appearance to kidnap the juniors.

According to Sam Bowman ’16, College Guidance Counselor “Mrs. Nolan told the juniors that they were not logging into Naviance enough, and then all the seniors ran into the courtyard yelling and grabbing the juniors to bring them to Miracle Field where we had sodas, pizza and music.” The juniors were both surprised and delighted.

Sam added: “It was really fun and a great way to see my class and bond with the juniors.”An unexpected fire drill brought the entire school out to observe the remnants of their fun and festive lunch on Miracle Field.

The kidnapping of the junior class by the graduating seniors remains a long-standing Montrose tradition. This tradition summons the juniors to realize that the seniors are now handing off responsibility for the underclassman to them. The graduating seniors hope to inspire the rising seniors to lead the next generation of Montrosians well in the coming year.
