This year many amazing and talented teachers joined the Montrose staff, and one of those new teachers is Mrs. Skerry. Mrs. Skerry teaches Biology (for the ninth grade), AP Biology (offered to sophomores and seniors), and Statistics (for seniors). She also coached the JV Field Hockey team this fall. In an interview, to get to know her better I asked Mrs. Skerry what she likes to do in her free time: “[she goes] to the playground a lot with [her] 4 year old twins, [she goes] running outside, [she likes] to ski in the winter, and [she loves] reading.”
Mrs. Skerry is a very passionate teacher, who makes sure that every student in her class understands the material and always takes the time to answer questions. Mrs. Skerry has a very bright personality and is always smiling at people. This makes their day, however it might be going (good or bad), just a tad bit better! This joy makes Montrose students’ journeys more enjoyable. When asked about Montrose, she mentioned she likes “the tight knit community, the dedication that students have to learning, and all of the unique aspects of Montrose, like CHR, Mentoring, and M–Block.” More particular to her classes, Mrs. Skerry also mentioned that she loves to teach Biology. She said more about her passion: “my favorite part of Biology is Genetics, so I have really enjoyed seeing you all learn about different traits, Punnett Squares, and how DNA works!” Her zeal for Biology shows Mrs. Skerry’s character as an amazing teacher who is a gift to everyone here at Montrose!
