I know the fall is coming when
The leaves turn sunset gold and begin to droop
As if they know the cold is coming
I know the fall is coming when
Suddenly the warm weather fades
Sun turns into clouds
Summer moves aside
I know the fall is coming when
Coats come out of closets
In all different colors and sizes
Ready to be used at last
I know the fall is coming when
Apples turn ripe on trees
Families go out and fill baskets
With dots of red and green
I know the fall is coming when
The ground is covered in a blanket of red and gold
More leaves swirling down like a twisting tornado
Keeping it safe from the looming threat of snow
I know the fall is coming when
You can see your breath in the air
Cold and misty
A little bit shocking
