It was 7 o’clock. Time to head home. I thought of a warm image of me by the fire sipping a hot drink and humming a carol.
I closed the cafe as soon as the last customer left. I wandered out into the now-deserted street. A light dusting of snowflakes lay on the clean clement as I began to walk home. I shivered in my jacket, trying to walk faster. More snow began to twirl down on me like rain in a storm. I checked my watch: 7:30. I looked around at the dark scene.
I smiled. Fall might just be the best time of year. I looked down into the bushes where a family of bunnies was cuddling in their home for the night. I looked at a warmly lit house where light was shooting out like the sun.
At last, I spotted my house in the distance. I could hear the laughter and joy of my family inside. A big smile replaced the tiny grin I had on my face.
As I entered the house, I was greeted with warm arms wrapping around me, silent nods and laughs and words of warmth.
I looked out at the chilly autumn night, thanking God for the beautiful night.
