Once there was a Merry band
Those around would loudly say
‘Twas a very merry man
Who would to the poor give pay
Through the lonely homely wood
Lo! that man was Robin Hood
On the road, he met a man
Who was heading into town
Busy booth of meat he ran
Male or not, in suit or gown
Meat for all, meat for all
Robin Hood would make his call
To the rich charge steady pay
To the pretty take a kiss
To the poor with all allay
Get your meat that’s not amiss
Merry Robin gave meat free
To a many girls he’d see
So the story ends thus far
Robin selling to the lass
Meat for kisses in the jar
As the time of day did pass
Robin sold but all he had
Home he went a merrier lad
