Have you ever felt like you just can’t do it? Can’t handle the course load, all the responsibilities being piled on, all the commitments stealing your schedule away from you? This summer I was feeling that pressure even before school started. It made me feel almost sick when I thought about how heavy my course load and responsibilities inside and out of school were going to be. I kept having doubts telling me “You can’t do it, you could never do that much.” But that’s when God’s truth of the Bible silenced those doubts and gave confidence to my heart. The truth is, no you can’t do it, but God can; and with God, you absolutely can do it!
Working with God, it’s a nice idea, but how do we put it into practice in our everyday lives? We rely on God. Relying on God comes through prayer. By admitting to Him daily, ‘Lord I can’t do this, I need your strength to be able to do this and do it well.’ Isaiah 40:31 reminds us “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.” Put 100% of your hope in the Lord, and He will provide you with all the strength you need. When we stop trying to do everything on our own strength and admit to God that we need tremendous help from Him daily, we gain new and renewed strength daily from Him. Matthew 19:26 says: “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” This reminds us that God knows how things are impossible when man tries to do them alone or without God’s help. But God assures us “with God all things are possible.” It is comforting to know that what seems insurmountable now, could be achieved if we only rely on God for all strength.
So when you are feeling overwhelmed and doubts are telling you that you just can’t handle it all anymore. Rely on God. Talk to Him, He is your Father, and He sincerely desires to help you. Maybe it’s a silent prayer in your head, or a prayer written down on paper, but either way, go to your heavenly Father and simply ask for the help and strength that He can’t wait to give to you. I challenge you to start the change in your heart by asking God for strength to face and complete whatever comes after reading this article for you today. Then each morning begin your day by asking the Lord for His infinite strength. Lovingly He invites us saying “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30).
