In one of the last Common Home Rooms of the year, we heard speeches from ten wonderful candidates for the four executive Student Government positions. Included here some memorable quotes from the winners. Congratulations to next year’s Stud Gov team- Elle, Monica, Catherine, and Katie!
Elle Schirripa ’15- President: “As I make this speech for my final time, you can think of your vote for me like your kilt: you don’t have a choice; you wear it every day. But it fits, suits its purpose, and it’s reassuring to know that it’s always there. It’s great to have so many candidates running this year, and I wish them the best of luck! Thank you.
Monica Stack ’15- Vice President: “ I started at Montrose in 6th grade, with just 12 girls in my grade, and As long as I pass physics this year I’ll be a 7 year survivor.”
Catherine Melley ’16- Treasurer: “The fundraiser is a very important opportunity to earn money for your class, especially for the middle school since it is their only fundraiser of the year, so I want to encourage everyone to get as excited for it as I do, especially since the Otis spunkmeyer cookies are basically the best cookies in the world next to Girl Scout cookies.”
Katie Sidu ’16- Secretary: “As a Student Government Representative my first and foremost wish would be to get to know exactly what you love, you hate, and what you generally feel meh about, in order to improve your experience and promote the happiness of all. And if that includes a rendezvous with a bedazzler, well then I guess everybody really can win.”
