Before Semi:
-
Organize a group of friends to take pictures with before Semi. One friend might even offer to host a larger group, in which case you would all take pictures at that friend’s house. Be sure to thank the host for having you.
-
Don’t feel obligated to buy a brand new dress. There are plenty of other girls from whom you can borrow or exchange dresses.
-
Don’t feel obligated to bring a date; going with a group of girlfriends is just as fun as going with a date. However, if you do want to invite a date, be sure to call him or invite him in person. Don’t text him.
-
If you bring a purse, make sure to include essential items: a tide pen, safety/bobbi pins, bandaids, hair elastics, double stick tape, and touch-up makeup.
-
Be sure to hydrate and eat a small snack before you go.
-
Remember to break in your heels a week before semi; don’t let blisters ruin your night. If you do get blisters, a small bit of vaseline/neosporin and a bandaid on the blister should prevent further irritation.
During Semi:
-
Be a good host to your date.
-
Do NOT scream or freak out. Remember, he might be a little nervous, and screaming will definitely not help.
-
Introduce your date to everyone you talk to so that he feels included in the conversation.
-
Be sure to stick with your date for most of the night; you invited them to the semi, so make sure to not ditch your date.
-
Take pictures with all your friends and date when you first arrive to semi. After you are done taking pictures, put your phone AWAY for the rest of the night.
-
Important reminder: When a slow song comes on do not run away from your date; they usually do not appreciate it.
-
Include everyone in your dancing circles.
-
Don’t be afraid to take your shoes off to dance.
-
Don’t be embarrassed and have lots of fun!
After Semi:
-
Make sure your date had fun.
-
Always thank your date for coming to semi with you.
- Stay with your date until his ride comes to pick him up.
