Thanksgiving is a holiday at which we come together as a family and give thanks to God for all we have, eat as much as we can and have a great time. Nowadays, Thanksgiving is a holiday that seems less important, and some say after a fun Halloween, it is time for Christmas. The season of Christmas starts on the 1st day of Advent, but nowadays, families get the Christmas trees the week before Thanksgiving.
Why do we celebrate Thanksgiving?
When you were little you probably heard about why we celebrate Thanksgiving. When the Pilgrims arrived in Plymouth after a long perilous journey, they gave thanks for a safe journey and befriended the Wampanoag people and had a great feast. To this day, we honor that tradition and celebrate with our families.
When should we celebrate Christmas?
Christmas is my favorite holiday just as it is for most people. It brings so much joyful holiday music, cold blissful weather, and fun and merriment. There are so many Christmas traditions in my family that I usually get overexcited for Christmas and start listening to Christmas music and wear fun Christmas clothes in November. But when is the right time to celebrate Christmas, hang up your stockings, get a tree, start watching Christmas movies? I feel like we either start celebrating the Christmas season too late or mostly too early. The first day of Advent is on December 3. This is when you can start your Advent calendar. You can get the one with a chocolate a day in Advent. Honestly I think this is the best type, though there are many others you can get. In my opinion the best time to start celebrating Christmas is the 1st day of Advent. It seems like a while from now, but time will go by fast and soon it will be Christmas!
Why should we celebrate Thanksgiving?
We celebrate Thanksgiving to give thanks to God and thank him for all he has created and done for us. As a Catholic, we always should make time to give thanks and celebrate what our Lord has done for us. If we are not paying attention to Thanksgiving and all the things God has gifted us, such as family, friends, a home, food, clothes, we are not being thankful for all we have.
Thanksgiving is much more important than Halloween or Valentine’s day. It is a holiday where we can show thanks to God and celebrate coming together with your friends and family.
Thanksgiving is a great holiday, some people might say it is the best. We should be thankful and celebrate all we have and have a great Thanksgiving!
