This may be your first time, or even third time going to semi. These tips will help you to maximize your experience to have a great night with friends!
Tips for going to semi with friends
-
Take photos in a group. You don’t need to be in every picture, especially one with couples. Instead, get individual pictures with your friends.
-
Spend time with your friends. Meet their dates and hang out in a group.
-
When the slow dances come around don’t panic!- its not awkward. You can take the time to freshen up (i.e. run to the bathroom and fix your hair) or be the first to the dessert bar!
Tips for going with a date
-
Acknowledge you are nervous and keep smiling. He is just as nervous as you so maybe lighten the mood by saying that you’re a bit nervous too. Take a deep breath and smile. You don’t want your date to think that you are not having a good time by the concerned look on your face. Also smiling will help lessen your tension and reduce your nerves.
-
Be attentive. Although this is your semi, he is the one who has decided to spend his night with you. You may be the only person he knows at the dance so don’t leave him stranded at the dinner table.
-
Introduce him to your friends (and to your friends’ dates). This will help him to feel more comfortable and it will be nice for him to know other guys. Your date may be really nervous and this may help him to open up.
-
When a slow song comes on do NOT run away. Although this may seem like an awkward situation, you shouldn’t make it worse by running away. Dance with him. This is a great time to get to know your date by having a conversation during the dance.
Tips For Hair And Makeup
-
If you have a strapped dress and want to show off the dress, try for an updo. You can go for the slicked back high ponytail, or even a loose low bun, maybe even adding a few braids around the bun. An updo always looks great when your hair is loose and flowy- maybe with side bangs. but most importantly make sure your hair will be secure through the night- you don’t want to have to worry about it falling out while dancing.
-
If you have a strapless dress, it’s very simple to curl your hair, even adding a few pins to pull back your bangs. Adding glitter to your hair always adds a little extra to pulling your outfit together. This will definitely make you shine when you are out on the dance floor!
-
When faced with what you your makeup should look like, don’t stress!.With our age of technology you can easily go online and find different ideas/tips. Look through magazines, have you older siblings or friends help with your makeup, or if you are an expert try out new makeup trends on yourself. Your makeup should complement your own beauty; don’t try to paint on a fake face.
