This year, many new clubs were formed by students, including Design Club! Elisabeth Kheir ‘26 and Kayla Dam ‘26, the Design Club leaders, decided to make their love of creative design into a club. Every meeting, there is a new activity or craft, such as making origami or designing holiday cards.
Design Club combines their passion for art with serving others. Recently, attendees made Christmas cards for SAS4Kids (Send A Smile 4 Kids), an organization that invites people to make handmade cards for children in the hospital who could use some more joy. Design Club is planning on continuing to create these wonderful cards for even more occasions, such as other holidays or birthdays!
Other projects involve many different supplies like paint, paper or recycled materials. One meeting, Design Club decorated jars out of recycled glass yogurt jars. In the future, they are planning on using even more materials and soon using paint to create works of art! The special aspect of Design Club is being creative with whatever you make! One club leader commented: “My favorite part of Design Club is seeing what each member creates! So many students create different visions for how their projects are going to turn out, so it is always amazing to see what different ideas people come up with.”
Design Club is open to upper school students and meets every other Thursday during Upper School Lunch in Room 11. Design Club is open to new members, so be sure to come by!
