Last year, we were hosted by students at our Montrose Shadow Day, but this year, we got to be the hosts! It was a very different experience to be a hostess rather than a prospective student. We felt like we could pay forward what our hostess did for us in making the students feel welcome. As Admissions Ambassadors, we had to call our prospective students and answer any questions they had. This process was a little nerve-racking, but we went to the Admissions Office, and they helped us through it.
The next day, when the girls came for their day visit, they were all really shy, but as we showed them around the school, they started to open up. We got to know them a little bit better, and they seemed like very nice people who we’d like to see around the school next year. As we were showing our shadow students around the school, we felt proud to represent Montrose, and we also felt really responsible now that we had this amazing opportunity. We knew that we had to make a good impression, since this was their first glimpse of Montrose life, so we all tried our hardest to welcome them into this amazing school.
We dropped the girls off at classes and introduced them to the Montrose community. Also, during lunch, the girls got a taste of Montrose traditions by celebrating a birthday and enjoying some treats! During CHR, we had a rock paper scissors tournament, and all of us had a great time. We loved seeing their smiling faces as they got to know how fun Montrose really is.
After the Shadow Day, we made cards for our shadow students to say that we enjoyed being their hostesses. We learned leadership skills and responsibility while hosting them. Overall, it was a great experience to be an Admissions Ambassador, and we loved making them feel welcome at Montrose!
