On Thursday, January 15th the Montrose fall sports teams gathered in the A&A to celebrate an amazing 2025 fall season. The evening started with dinner, then the program began. Each team, JV and Varsity, for each sport stood up in front of everyone and got to hear their coach’s speech about the season. Then, rewards were given out for each team. The rewards were: 110%, MVP, Most Improved, Unsung Hero and Coaches award. The 110% award was given to an athlete who showed nonstop effort and dedication. The MVP award was given to the most valuable player on the team this season. The Most Improved Award was given to an athlete who showed great improvement from the beginning to the end of the season. The Unsung Hero Award was presented to an athlete who made a great impact on the team with great humility. Lastly, the Coaches Award was given to an athlete who deserved a shoutout of being a great all-around player and teammate. These awards (except the coaches award) were voted on by the team. Almost every coach expressed how close all of the votes were, proving the dedication each athlete gave this season and the overall team bond. In addition to these awards, athletes who excelled this season were awarded either the All-NEPSAC or NEPSAC Honorable Mention. These awards were given by the NEPSAC league, and give honor to those who worked extra hard this season. The celebrations did not end after these awards were announced, as the soccer team’s win of the IGC championship was also celebrated! This season was different to say the least. Teams had to commute to McCarthy Park every day due to the fact Miracle Field is under construction. Despite this setback, many would argue this was one of Montrose’s best fall seasons yet. The resilience each team showed and the dedication of each and every player, made it possible for the 2025 season to be such a success. Personally, I feel the car rides to and from McCarthy Park forced us teammates to grow closer, which resulted in better connection on and off the field. Players from different teams would come out and support each other by watching each other’s games and making posters for their senior nights. Now, let’s hear from the players themselves:
“Our cross country season was filled with hard work, dedication, and teamwork. Not only did every athlete on cross country grow as individual runners, we grew so strong together as a team throughout the entire season.” – CC Wahlen ‘29
“Varsity soccer had a great season full of success, team spirit, and growth. With a mix of challenging opponents and more relaxed games, the team had great chemistry and there was also a lot of individual player growth. We are proud of our 2025 season and title of IGC champs, and we are looking forward to all that the 2026 season will bring!” – Grace Lynch ‘29
It is an understatement to say that the 2025 fall sports season was a fun, successful, and crazy one that will go down in Montrose history!
