Montrose fully supports sports such as soccer, basketball, field hockey, volleyball, golf, tennis, pickle ball, badminton and so much more. But what do sports do for your academics and health?
When girls do sports or just workout daily, they help increase mental health, memory, concentration, time management, brain growth, self confidence, development of leadership skills, enhanced motivation, focus, lifelong habits, progressive sleep, energy levels and so much more.
Girls at Montrose typically do competitive team sports which allows them to connect with other students and create a community. The feeling of connection helps girls severely with academics because they feel supported. In middle and high school, stress levels are high because of time management. When doing sports, they learn to be more efficient with homework and end up solving problems not just physically but also academically.
Even though sports help you grow in so many ways, it can also be hard to juggle school and sports even if you are efficient. For me, I do gymnastics which isn’t a Montrose included sport so balancing the two is harder. Going from school early to gymnastics was hard but then having to do it again with piles of homework was tough. I learned to balance my time and immediately after school do my homework and study so I wouldn’t have to worry about it after I got home late.
As the school year went by, I learned a lot from sports and it helped me get through tough school days either when I didn’t do well on a test or knew I had a lot of homework. Gymnastics taught me many important things like never to give up and to work hard. Gymnastics improved my mental health as it was with my team, a good group of girls who were always supportive in gymnastics and in school. Every day I got better and managed my homework. I realized how important sports are and how much it helped me with academics and my daily life in general.
