On October 23rd, 2026, I had the opportunity to try Starbuck’s brand new Black Cat Frauppucino. The drink comes in a grande size only, with a black velvet cake flavored creme base, whipped cream, and topped with adorable chocolate cat ears.
I rushed after school on Friday to pick up my order—I was speedwalking extra fast due to an upper school play rehearsal at 3:30 PM. The drink was on the counter, awaiting my arrival. On first impression, the new frauppucino looked chocolatey and delicious, which was very appealing to my intensely chocoholic nature.
From the first sip, the Black Cat Frauppucino delivered. The creme was cold, chocolatey, and packed with flavor. The drink was, thankfully, not watered down or diluted with any tastes of vanilla. However, I did note a heavy marshmallow flavor, which at times overpowered the chocolate and made the drink very sweet. The marshmallow was not altogether unpleasant, but disappointed the part of me that craves a richer chocolate taste. For those looking for a stronger chocolate flavor, I would highly recommend adding some chocolate sauce to balance out the sweet marshmallow. Finally the highlight of the drink was definitely the dark chocolate cat ears. The dark chocolate ears had a satisfying crunch and the bittersweet chocolate I had been craving.
Whether you are an intense chocolate lover or just someone looking for something sweet after school, I can personally recommend the Black Cat Frauppucino in confidence! 🙂
