The Chapel Crew is a club not usually recognized for its tireless work every day to make sure that Mass is possible in the chapel. Whether it’s coming early to school to set up the chapel, staying late after Mass to help clean up or bringing up the gifts, the members of Chapel Crew are dedicated to making sure that Mass runs smoothly. This would not be possible without the seniors’ tireless efforts in the chapel every single day. They ensure that every member of the club is involved and fully knows what they are doing. Each senior on the core team brought their individual talents and contributions to the club, always striving to be a good example for the younger members of the Chapel Crew and the school with their faith and commitment to the club.
Theresa Bettinelli has been a part of this club for as long as I can remember. She brought her calm, joyful presence to every training session any time we would set up the chapel together. She was also a well-rounded member, lectoring at Mass as well. Anya Marino was committed to training the younger high schoolers and led several training sessions at the beginning of the year to ensure that anyone who wanted to be a part of the club could be, regardless of their experience. Setting up the chapel can be a daunting task, as there are many steps to follow that can be hard to remember. But thanks to Anya, many new faces were setting and unsetting the chapel, as well as helping out with the trays at Mass. Cate Lynch was always very on top of her schedule, rarely missing when she was scheduled and prompt to text someone if she needed her day covered. She was a quiet leader who I know many people looked up to for guidance in this club. Leslie Baker was in charge of the schedule, a complicated task as there are multiple people’s schedules and daily lives you have to work around, as well as making sure a new person is paired with an experienced worker. You also have to make sure that whoever is setting up is not lectoring or cantering as well, which is a daunting task! Leslie handled this job with grace, never complaining about being tasked with this monthly affair. Vivian Krawiecki was always willing to cover your day if you were sick, or any Wednesday morning when you needed to sleep in a little longer; she always had your back. I can personally attest that Vivian helped me on several occasions whenever I needed it and no matter how short notice. She was quick to step into any role that needed to be filled, whether it was doing trays at the last minute or seeing that the person who was supposed to lector was out she would do it without even having to be asked.
None of their work will go forgotten, not only due to the wonderful way Chapel Crew ran this year, but also the training and legacy they leave with the club members next year. I think it is safe to say that they will be very missed next year! Thank you seniors for your tireless work to Our Lady of Angels Chapel through the Chapel Crew!
