- The Fishtail
I know that when I first looked at the fishtail braid my friend created on her sister, I stood there and stared. How did she just do that? Soon, however, I learned the simplicity and beauty of this style myself. To do a simple fishtail braid, divide the hair into two sections. Make sure the sections are even, and you could even brush through before beginning the braid to make sure there are no tangles. Then alternate small, thin strands from the outer edge of one section across to the opposite section. You basically take a few little strands of hair in Section A and cross the outer piece to Section B. Then, do the same step on the other side, taking a little bit of hair from the edge to the other section (now going B to A). Continue alternating the hair pieces from one side to another, and remember to take the hair from the outer part of the section. The key is to keep sections tight and uniform for a detailed, intricate look resembling a fish or mermaid tail, then braiding down and securing with an elastic at the end. This braid is very easy, and usually takes only five to ten minutes (depending on the stylist’s expertise, for example, a beginner may take longer than an experienced hair stylist). Overall, this is an easy yet extraordinary braid, and perfect for a warm spring day keeping your hair off your neck stylishly.

- The Bubble Braid
I’m sure that you have seen a friend or team member wearing a pretty style with big bumps of hair running down their back. It is beautiful and keeps their hair back in all sports, from long jump to pitching to goalkeeping. A bubble braid is a trendy style, and especially useful for sports. If you are on JV or Varsity lacrosse, track, or softball, a bubble braid is a great option for practices or games. It keeps your hair out of your way in a style that is cute and trendy, while also being easy enough to quickly pull together on a bus. To begin a bubble braid, start with a high ponytail. Then, place small elastic bands every 1–2 inches down the ponytail. I personally suggest clear hair ties or ties matching your hair color. Here is a cheap set of clear elastics. Create the “bubbles” by gently tugging the hair outward between each band, working from the top down. If there are tangles or bumps in the bubble braid, secure them with some bobby pins. To create an even more impressive effect to your bubble braid, braid various small sections of your hair before beginning the ponytail. This will leave little braids running through your bubble braid. To recap, a bubble braid is a quick, effective style that is both trendy and sporty.

- Half-Up With Clip
You may have noticed that most Mavericks wear one common hairstyle – the clipped half-up. It looks so good, and you may think that there is no way you could use a little clip to keep up your hair without expensive sprays and gels. I am here to tell you that is perfectly wrong. Half-ups are easy, trendy hairstyles that can be held in place with a beautiful clip. All it needs is a clean brush-through, and soon enough, your hair is pulled back in a trendy do. First, find a cute mini clip for your hair. You can really personalize your selection, as they come in many shapes, sizes, patterns, and colors. Here is the link to a cheap beginner set. Pull a fairly thick strand of hair from the front of the right side of your hair, and an equally thick strand from the left side. Pull these sections together in the middle back of your head, and open the clip. Push the open clip on top of the hair sections, making sure the clip pulls the whole combined section together and holds it on the back of your head. This is an easy style perfect for spring or any other time of year, and is certainly trendy!
