Montrose Teams as Tenacious in Defeat as Gracious in Victory

Last week closed with a cluster of hard-fought athletic competitions.

The Montrose Mavericks played a strong game on Friday, September 23rd. Although Montrose lost to Concord Academy, the score was 3-2. Annie Irwin ’19 and Devon Gianino ’20 both scored goals. Annie Irwin’s goal was a perfectly placed penalty kick. The girls played very well and are determined to beat Concord Academy in the future. The Mavericks’ next game is September 26 at CSW. The Montrose Volleyball Team played their first home game on Thursday, September 22. Playing against The Learning Center for the Deaf, the girls played a hard game. Although they lost, the Volleyball Team played with great sportsmanship. The girls also won one set! Thursday was also the first game with the Mascot cheering on the sidelines. The Mavericks’ next game is September 26 at CSW. Good luck, girls!

The Montrose Field Hockey Team played a tough game on Friday. They drove the van to Southfield Academy to play a challenging game. Although the Mavericks lost 8-0, goalie Molly Bowman ’18 saved about 38 goals. The game was strenuous, but the girls pulled through with great sportsmanship to end the game well. The Varsity Field Hockey’s next game is at McCarthy Field against Ursuline on Friday, September 30 at 4:00. Come and cheer the girls on!
