The fall 2021 JV field hockey team with Coach Moran after a game.

JV field hockey had an excellent season led by new coach Ally Moran. Coach Moran played field hockey on the Boston College club team and currently works in the math department at Montrose. Each and every player talked about having a great experience on the team. They talked about the sense of community that the teammates had, how great their coach was, and overall, how much they loved the season. The JV field hockey goalie Beatrice White ‘27 said: “I loved JV field hockey, it was a great experience, and by the end of the season we were all like family. Coach Moran was super amazing and always had something we could improve on, and always made sure she said it in a kind way. My teammates were so supportive no matter what the outcome of the game was! We had such a fun season and I can’t wait until next year!”

Many players on the team had only picked up a field hockey stick for the first time last year, back when Montrose sports didn’t have any games, while others had never even picked one up until this year. The team all worked really hard over the course of the season, with hopes of winning some games. At 4:15 PM on October 6 on Miracle Field, they got the win that they’d been working countless hours for, beating Brimmer and May with a score of 2-1, with Bridget Devaney ‘27 scoring both of the goals. Overall, the JV field hockey team had an excellent season, working hard at every practice, giving every game their all, and becoming the best players that they can be. Varsity field hockey will be in great hands in the future with this group of amazing girls!
