Every year, as Halloween approaches, two types of people emerge: the ones that have completed their costume and the people who have no idea what they are going to be. For those of you who are scrambling to find a costume, I’ve found some costume ideas that you can make quickly out of regular household items.

  1. Kim Possible: To be Kim Possible, all you need is a black shirt, army green pants, a brown belt, combat boots and some black gloves.
  2. Barbie: As long as you have blonde hair, pink clothes and heels you’re all set!
  3. Winnie the Pooh: Winnie the Pooh is a pretty simple costume: a red shirt and any type of yellow bottoms. You can make ears by cutting ear shapes out of yellow paper and gluing them onto a headband. You can even carry a “Hunny” bucket to complete the look.
  4. Steve (Blue’s Clues): All you need for Steve is a green striped shirt and some khakis.
  5. Any Emoji: Being an emoji is a pretty great idea because there are so many options to chose from. All you’ll need is some construction paper, tape and creativity!
  6. Blair Waldorf (Gossip Girl): Just wear your preppiest outfit and and any headband you can find!
  7. Boo (Monsters Inc.): A pink shirt, purple leggings and some pigtails.
  8. Mike (Monsters Inc.): Wear a green shirt, use construction paper to make a big eye in the middle of your shirt,  and your costume is complete.
  9. Sully (Monsters Inc.): For Sully, get a blue t-shirt and make some purple spots to tape onto the shirt.  You can also make horns out of construction paper and tape those to a headband.
  10. A Sim (The Sims): Using some green construction paper and a headband, you can easily become a Sim character and then wear whatever clothes you want.
  11. Wednesday Addams (The Addams Family): Complete this look with a black dress with a white collar, and some braids with a middle part.
  12. Lilo (Lilo and Stitch): Wear a red dress, cut out some leaves with white paper to tape onto the dress, and carry around a Stitch stuffed animal.
  13. The Snapchat dog filter: Just look up “dog filter png” on Google images, print out the picture you like, and put the dog ears on a headband.  You can wear any clothes you want!
  14. Snapchat Face Swap: You and a friend can print out each other’s selfies and wear them as masks! This is a great costume for two best friends!
  15. Rosie the Riveter: A denim shirt, jeans, a red bandana and some red lipstick and your costume is complete.
  16. Mary Poppins: All you need is a black skirt, white button up, bowler hat, red ribbon, and an umbrella.
  17. Patrick Star (Spongebob): A pink shirt and green shorts and your outfit is good to go. Roll up some pink construction paper into a cone on your head to complete the look.  All you need is a friend to be Spongebob!
  18. Risky Business: To be Tom Cruise in Risky Business all you need is some crew socks, an oversized dress shirt, shorts and sunglasses.
  19. Louise (Bob’s Burgers): For Louise all you need is her bunny ears hat and a green dress.
  20. Pokemon Trainer (Pokemon Go): To be a trainer from this summer’s most popular app, all you need is a red vest, red hat, blue pants, black shirt and a backpack.  You’ll have a great costume and you can catch some Pokemon while you’re out and about.
  21. An Incredible (The Incredibles): For a (lazy) Incredibles costume, wear a red shirt and print out the Incredibles logo and tape it on the shirt.  For the complete look, wear red pants and black boots, and make or buy a black eyemask.
  22. Regina George (Mean Girls): For a Regina George costume, all you need is a pink sweater, black skirt, a white shirt that with “A little bit dramatic” written on it.
  23. When Life Gives you Lemons
    If you’re looking for a ‘punny’ costume, write the word “Life” on a shirt and carry around some lemons!  Hand them out to people you meet.
  24. Chip on Your Shoulder
    Another lazy and ‘punny’ costume: all you need to do is tape a bag of chips onto your shoulder!
  25. Ladybug
    For a ladybug costume, wear a red shirt with some polka dots on it and some wings!
  26. Lizzie McGuire
    To be Lizzie McGuire, wear a pink shirt, jeans, and, of course, platform shoes!
  27. Hello Kitty
    All you need for this costume is a white shirt with Hello Kitty’s face drawn on it and a pink skirt.
  28. Audrey Hepburn
    To be Audrey Hepburn from her movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s, wear a long black dress, long black gloves, and pearls.
  29. Darla (Finding Nemo)
    A Darla costume requires a purple sweater, plaid skirt, pigtails, knee high socks, a fake fish in a bag, and some fake headgear you can make with pipecleaners.
  30. Blue (Blue’s Clues)
    For Blue from Blue’s Clues, all you need to do is wear all blue and cut out some dog ears from blue construction paper.  Tape the ears onto a headband and be on your way.
  31. Holy Cow
    For a holy cow costume, you’ll need a white shirt with black spots and a halo headband.
  32. Kool Aid Man
    To be the Kool Aid Guy all you need is a red shirt with a big black smile on it!
  33. Stick Figure
    For a really fast and easy costume, wear all black and use white duct tape to make the outline of a stick figure.  Use paper to make a smiley face mask!
  34. Cactus
    For a Cactus costume, all you need to do is bend a few white pipe cleaners and tape them onto a green shirt, dress, or hoodie.
  35. Soccer Mom
    To be a soccer mom, wear jeans, sneakers, a nice shirt, a sweater tied around your neck, and sunglasses. Carry a soccer ball around and yell: “Nice hustle son!” to complete the look.
  36. Pig in a Blanket
    Simple and comfortable.  Just wear some pig ears and wrap yourself up in your favorite blanket!
  37. Tooth Fairy
    For the Tooth Fairy, wear all white and don some fairy wings.
  38. Damian (Mean Girls)
    To be Damian from Mean Girls, wear a hoodie and sunglasses. Carry around a sign that says “She doesn’t even go here,” and your look is complete.
  39. Russell (Up)
    To be Russell, wear a yellow shirt, cargo shorts, a red sash, a baseball cap, and knee high socks.  You can also add some fake patches to your sash.
  40. Bachelorette
    Wear a nice dress and carry roses, and you’re all set!
  41. Bender (Breakfast Club)
    To be Bender from the Breakfast Club, you need gray pants, a white shirt, a flannel, combat boots, gloves, and a denim jacket.
  42. Jake, from State Farm
    To be Jake from State Farm, all you need is a red polo and khakis!
  43. Crazy Cat Lady
    For a funny Crazy Cat lady costume, wear a bathrobe with your craziest outfit and carry around a bunch of cat stuffed animals.
  44. Flo (Progressive)
    To be Flo from Progressive, wear a blue shirt, a white apron, and a nametag that says Flo!
  45. Facebook
    Another ‘punny’ and lazy idea:  use some sort of eyeliner or face paint and write “book” straight across your face.
  46. Identity Theft
    All this funny costume requires is regular clothes and nametags.  Write other people’s names on the nametags, and stick them all over your clothes.
  47. Nickelback
    For a funny “Nickelback” costume, just glue a few nickels onto the back of a shirt.
  48. Napoleon Dynamite
    To be Napoleon Dynamite, wear is a shirt that says “Vote for Pedro.”  If you want to go all-out, get some thick glasses and a wig.
  49. Free Brady
    For a funny “Free Brady” costume, all you need to do is wear a Tom Brady jersey and tape a sign on yourself that says “free.”
  50. Ken Bone (Second Presidential Debate)
    Last, but certainly not least, is a Ken Bone costume. Ken Bone asked a question in the second Presidential Debate and has gone viral since. All you need for a Ken Bone costume is glasses, khakis, and a red sweater. However, drawing a fake moustache on your face and carrying around a microphone will get you bonus points for sure!
