Elisabeth Kheir ’26 and Keira Hyatt ’26 show their Montrose spirit before the pep rally

Montrose Homecoming was an incredible experience. The fun started out with an all school pep rally in the A&A, where our new Athletic Director, Mrs. Langhurst, organized a life size game of Hungry Hungry Hippos. The game featured student leaders from the red and white teams and two teacher teams. Ms. White and Mrs. Elrod ended up taking the champion title, after two riveting rounds. The pep rally lifted Montrose student’s spirits, and the athletes headed out ready to play their hearts out.

The Varsity Soccer team played Westwood High on Miracle field, pulling off a 4-1 win. The coaches Emily Keufler and Lauren Francis encouraged the team from the sidelines, and the captains, Cate Lynch ’24 and Wendy Jacobi ’23, cheered them on from the field.

Varsity field hockey played Dighton-Rehoboth at McCarthy field, putting up a wonderful fight but ultimately losing 0-4. The coaches Patti Bettinelli and Heather Osborne gave them spirit, and the captain’s, Olivia Mahoney ’23, Ali Quinn ’23, and Kenzie Cassler ’24 energized the team on the field.

Volleyball played a close game against CHCH in the A&A, ultimately losing 2-3. The coaches Janet Hogan and Liz Albany applauded the team, and captains Meredith Baker ’23, Calista Rijo ’23, and Isabel Oquendo ’23 supported the team on the court.

Cross Country ran a meet at McCarthy field and placed first against Dana Hall, Ursuline, and Lexington Christian Academy. After these incredible sports events took place, people were free to mingle, get food, and dance along to the music of the amazing DJ. The students ran a s’mores table, and there were numerous food and ice cream trucks. There were fire pits to roast s’mores over or to talk around, and a beer garden for those over the age of 21 to enjoy. Montrose also invited alumnae back, and they were able to mingle with their classmates.

A big shout out to Mrs. Langhurst for putting together an amazing homecoming, her first Montrose homecoming ever! This homecoming sure was a night to remember, thanks to her hard work and everyone else who contributed to making the night so special.
