One of my core memories with Megan was running a hard interval workout around the pond across the street from Montrose. It may seem random, but what made it so memorable was the way that Megan was encouraging me, pacing me, and making me stronger throughout the whole workout. Whether she’s leading, serving, or learning, you can always count on Megan to be there for you to encourage and pace you with consistency and make you stronger. Megan Cloherty has been an integral part of the Montrose community for the past five years. Whether she is serving as Red Key Co-President, Softball captain, Track captain, or Looking Glass editor, Megan has a talented way of leading in a way that inspires others to rise to the occasion. She has served very faithfully as the Looking Glass Copy Editor for the past year and we are tremendously thankful for all her work. Megan could be considered a quieter leader, but her strength comes through her inspiring character. She never complains, and is always ready and willing to work hard no matter the conditions. When you run into Megan in the halls, she always has a smile on her face and is happy to help you with whatever might be on your mind. She is incredibly strong both physically and mentally, which adds to her inspiring nature. Especially on the track team, she is the runner always willing to go the extra mile whether that is to extend her training, push younger girls to new heights, or just to go back to help newer runners find their way.
Megan shared that her favorite Montrose memories come from softball games and the bus rides to and from games. An experience any Montrose athlete can relate to, the bus rides to games are always full of music, singing, and lots of team bonding. Megan’s words of wisdom to current and future high schoolers is to always enjoy the moment because everything goes by too fast. Megan will be going to Hamilton College next year studying math on the engineering track. We wish her all the best, and look forward to seeing everything Megan will accomplish and all the ways she will continue leading in her new community.
