Sorina is among one of the first people I met when I came to Montrose.
In fact, she was the first editor of the Looking Glass I ever met. Sorina has been writing for the Looking Glass since November of 2023, and she is one of the most amazing editors! As food and wellness editor, she has written all kinds of fun recipes and food reviews over the years. She’s even written a Starbucks vs. Dunkin article AND then a rematch! She has also helped lead our Montrose podcast, MonPod, this year and sent out emails to remind us every week when and where to meet.
Sorina also leads the Art Club, which has made beautiful, seasonal crafts themed for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and more. There were also a variety of creative projects to make, such as painting rocks, making bookmarks, creating little winter trees out of pine cones, and making collages out of magazines. One of the times I came to Art Club, the girls were designing fashion pieces. That day, I learned that I really, really like drawing outfits. Sorina also encouraged me and said she loved the dress I drew as well.
Along with being a great writer, Sorina is also an amazing actor. From Babette’s Feast to Anastasia, Little Women, and Frozen, Sorina has excelled at her roles on the Montrose stage. I also had so much fun working on Little Women with Sorina, who starred as Beth in the upperclassmen cast. Although we weren’t in the same cast, she could always make us laugh at practices or seriously impress us with her stage crying on set. In Frozen, she was everyone’s favorite wandering Oaken and had an impressive song and dance number, that everyone loved I might add, to the song “Hygge” (I still hear it sung in the hallways over two months later!).
Sorina, we will miss you so much here at Montrose! I know you will dazzle everyone when you go to Northeastern University and major in Communications and Media Studies. You will always hold a special place in all our hearts that no one else can fill. I am so thankful for all the time we have gotten to spend together in my past three years here at Montrose. Good luck Sorina, and never stop ceasing to amaze!
